On the advice of friends, I decided to have the bed sprayed with a spray in bed liner called Line-X.
The Line-X took about four hours to install. Most of this time was because of the prep work involved in masking off the area that are not going to be sprayed.   The end result is worth the wait.

Because I was planning to install a camper shell, I had the liner sprayed under the rails, not on the top. I have since learned that I could have had them spray the rail tops, and it would not have interfered with the shell.

The end result is great! The liner is almost sticky when you place heavy objects in the back of the truck, and it is not slippery when it gets wet.
