I
wanted to move the axle vents up off the axles to higher ground for water
crossings. I found that the front axle and what I believe
is the transmission breathers are mounted on the drivers side fender,
already up pretty high. The main problem was the rear axle
vent. I found that you could get a fitting from Nissan that
would replace the stock vent, so I ordered one and got started.

Here
are the front axle and what I believe is the transmission breathers on
the front fender.

This is what the stock vent looks like next to the new breather fitting.
The Nissan part number is: 38323-C6010 Described as a Breather Connector, cost: $2.93 |

I
removed the vent and screwed the new fitting in.

I then attached a piece of hose to the fitting and ran it up toward the fuel door.
(1/4 inch hose) |

I
attached a fuel filter in line to keep the dust out.

I drilled a small hole and poked the end of the ture out through it. When you go through water, you push a wave in front of you, so the fuel door should be high enough for now. In the future, I will relocate the hose and tie it into the air intake system at the front of the truck. This will mean making a hose run inside the frame rail to the front... and I don't have time for that now! |

Bottom
line... cheap easy mod.
